We are delighted to welcome you to the Montgomery family.
My name is Mrs Campbell, Assistant Headteacher in charge of Transition, and I am excited to support you and your family as you begin your journey to Montgomery Academy. Starting secondary school is an important milestone and it is natural to feel both excited and a little nervous. Please be reassured that I will be on hand as your first point of contact to support you throughout the transition process and during your first year at Montgomery.
In preparation for starting in September, there will be a range of opportunities for you to engage with the school and begin to feel part of the Montgomery community. These include our Induction Evening in the summer term, where students and families can meet teaching and pastoral staff, and our Transition Day in early July (Thursday 2nd July 2026). During this day, students will explore the school site, experience a variety of subjects and learn more about life at Montgomery.
Students will also be introduced to our SMART ethos, which encourages everyone to be Safe, Mature, Ambitious, Respectful and Thoughtful in school and within the wider community.
Throughout the transition period, we will also visit local primary schools to meet students, speak with teachers and answer any questions. Students will also have the opportunity to meet our Transition Prefects, who help support students when they join Montgomery.
